History

Nishi-Goryō Station was one of several stops added to the Furano Line when JNR launched diesel multiple-unit service in 1957. It first appeared on 1 December 1957 as Nishi-Goryō temporary halt between Nishi-Kagura and Asahikawa, and was upgraded to a full passenger-only station on 25 March 1958. JR Hokkaido inherited the station at the 1 April 1987 privatisation. In 1999, with the widening of National Route 237 and the residential build-up around the station, the platform and waiting room were shifted from the highway side to the opposite side of the tracks. The station is unstaffed and has no toilet; only local trains stop.

Notes

From Nishi-Goryō onward, four consecutive Furano Line stops carry the prefix 'Nishi'.
