History

Takasago Station opened on 1986-11-01 as the Takasago temporary halt on the JNR Hakodate Main Line, handling only passengers and operating without staff. At privatisation on 1987-04-01 it was transferred to JR Hokkaido and promoted to a full passenger station under its present name. Separate north and south station buildings and a free pedestrian deck opened on 2001-02-26 alongside automatic ticket gates, and Kitaca service began on 2008-10-25. Barrier-free works were completed on 2009-10-28, and elevation of part of the Nopporo–Takasago section was finished on 2011-10-23.

Notes

Because the inside of the gates does not connect the two side platforms, passengers must use the exterior free passageway to cross the tracks between the south and north exits.
