History

Miyanosawa Station opened on 1999-02-25 as the new western terminus of the Sapporo Municipal Subway Tōzai Line when the route was extended one stop beyond Kotoni. It is numbered T01. The site had been planned for years under provisional names — first "Kinrōsha-Danchi-mae" reflecting the nearby workers' housing complex, then "Teine-Higashi" — before the present name was finally chosen. A retirement ceremony for the line's 6000-series rolling stock was held at the station on 2008-08-30, and platform-edge doors entered service on 2009-03-03.
