History
Higashi-Honganji-mae Stop (SC21) is on the Sapporo Streetcar Yamahana Line in Chūō-ku, Sapporo, at the Nishi-7-chōme-dōri/Minami-7-jō-dōri intersection. It opened on 25 August 1923, was assigned the stop number SC21 on 1 April 2015 and received a temporary platform at Minami-5-jō-Nishi-6-chōme during a renovation from 11 May 2021 until late November 2021. It has retained the same name since opening — except for the newly added Tanukikōji stop, this is the only stop on the current Sapporo Streetcar network never to have been renamed — and the section between Higashi-Honganji-mae and the neighbouring Yamahana 9-jō Stop has the steepest gradient of any active part of the network.

Notes
The grade between Higashi-Honganji-mae and Yamahana 9-jō Stop is the steepest active stretch on the modern Sapporo Streetcar network — and the stop itself is one of only two on the present network (along with the newly built Tanukikōji) that has never been renamed.
