History
Kawakura Station opened on 24 April 1932 on the private Tsugaru Railway Line in Goshogawara, Aomori Prefecture, on the rural stretch toward Nakadomari. Operations were suspended on 1 August 1941 and resumed on 20 October 1955. The stop has a single side platform along a single bidirectional track, with no station building other than a weather shelter on the platform, and is unattended. The station building was reconstructed in 1967. The line runs roughly along National Route 339, and some Tsugaru Railway trains pass Kawakura without stopping.
