History

Ajigasawa Station is on JR East's Gonō Line in Maitomachi, Ajigasawa, Aomori Prefecture. It opened on 15 May 1925 and passed to JR East on 1 April 1987 with the privatisation of JNR. Cargo handling ended on 2 March 1983 and parcel handling on 14 March 1985. The station was renovated in 1991. From 1 April 2003 station operations were contracted to the Hirosaki Station Building (later JR East Tohoku General Service from 2015). The station has dual side platforms with a footbridge and a Midori-no-Madoguchi ticket office.

Notes

Ajigasawa appointed the "ugly-cute" Akita dog Wasao as its honorary tourism station-master on 20 April 2011; after his death in June 2020, Wasao's family — wife Tsubaki and daughter Chome — continued in lesser roles, with a memorial photo exhibition in the station waiting room through August of that year.
