Kita-Kanegasawa

北金ヶ沢

History

Kitakanegasawa Station is on JR East's Gonō Line in Fukaura, Aomori Prefecture. It opened on 20 October 1931, ceased freight handling on 1 October 1971 and parcel handling on 1 February 1984, was unstaffed-simplified in November 1986, came under JR East with privatisation on 1 April 1987, and was fully unstaffed from 1 April 2011. A new station building was put into service on 21 January 2021. The original wooden building, in use from opening until 2020, was unusually built to metric dimensions rather than the shaku-sun units used at contemporaneous Gonō Line stations.

Notes

Kitakanegasawa's pre-2020 wooden station building, in use from opening in 1931, followed the 1930 Ministry of Railways "small-station standard plan" — but it was unusual among contemporaneous Gonō Line stations in being dimensioned in metric rather than in shaku and sun.
