History
Kasose Station opened on November 20, 1954 as a Japanese National Railways stop on the Gonō Line, in the present-day town of Fukaura along the Sea of Japan coast. It has had no permanent on-site staff since March 19, 1984. With the privatisation of JNR on April 1, 1987, operational control passed to JR East. The station has no building — only a single ground-level side platform serving a bidirectional track — and is managed remotely from Goshogawara Station. It sits 79.0 kilometres from the line terminus at Higashi-Noshiro.
