History

Oirase Station opened on 13 December 1934 as a station on the Japanese National Railways' Gonō Line, serving the town of Fukaura in Aomori Prefecture. With the privatisation of JNR on 1 April 1987 it came under the operational control of JR East. The station lies 72.9 km from the line's terminus at Higashi-Noshiro and is built around a single ground-level island platform, only one face of which is now in service for a single bidirectional track. There is no station building — only a small weather shelter on the platform — and the stop is unstaffed, managed remotely from Goshogawara Station.
