History
Yokoiso Station opened on December 25, 1954, as a stop on the Japan National Railways (JNR) Gonō Line in what is today the town of Fukaura, Aomori Prefecture. With the privatisation of JNR on April 1, 1987, control of the station passed to East Japan Railway Company (JR East), and from April 2010 administration shifted from Fukaura Station to Goshogawara Station. The site has no station building — only a small waiting room on its single side platform — and is unstaffed. Yokoiso sits 61.4 kilometres from the line's terminus at Higashi-Noshiro and serves a small fishing-port community on the Sea of Japan.
