History

WeSPa-Tsubakiyama Station opened on December 1, 2001 on the Gonō Line in the town of Fukaura, Aomori Prefecture, initially as a seasonal stop served only by the Resort Shirakami sightseeing limited-express. From December 1, 2002, all local trains on the line began calling here as well, and the station was upgraded to a regular passenger stop. It is unstaffed, with a single side platform serving one bidirectional track, and sits 56.0 kilometres from the southern terminus of the line at Higashi-Noshiro. East Japan Railway Company (JR East) has operated the station since its inception.
