History

Tachita Station opened on 7 September 1927 on what is now the Kōnan Railway Kōnan Line, serving the city of Hirakawa, Aomori Prefecture. The station was made a consignment stop in October 1974 and freight operations ended in 1984. On 25 August 1997 an outbound train left the station before its signal cleared and collided head-on with an inbound train still entering the platform, injuring 32 people; the driver was later given a suspended sentence for endangerment through professional negligence. The station has been unstaffed since 1 April 2006. The platform is a single island serving two tracks, connected to the station building by a level crossing.
