History

Ōwani Station is the southern terminus of the Kōnan Railway Ōwani Line in Ōwani, Aomori Prefecture, immediately adjacent to JR East's Ōwani-Onsen Station (with which it shares a footbridge). Ōwani Station opened on 26 January 1952 as a station of the then Hirosaki Electric Railway. On 1 October 1970, after the line was transferred to the Kōnan Railway, it was renamed Kōnan-Ōwani Station to distinguish it from the adjacent national-railway Ōwani Station, then reverted to Ōwani on 1 April 1986. The south exit was unstaffed all day from 1 April 2009.

Notes

Ōwani's south exit faces JR East Ōwani-Onsen Station's track 1, and after the Kōnan ticket office and vending machine closed in 2009 passengers must enter from the north side or board with a no-ticket boarding slip and pay on alighting.
