History
Kadonohama Station opened on August 5, 1954 in what is now the town of Hirono, Kunohe District, Iwate Prefecture, on the Hachinohe Line. With the April 1, 1987 privatisation of the Japan National Railways, operations passed to East Japan Railway Company (JR East). The unstaffed station has a single ground-level side platform serving one bi-directional track; there is no station building, only a small rain shelter on the platform. Kadonohama lies 29.5 kilometres from the line's terminus at Hachinohe Station and is located near National Route 45 along the northern Sanriku coast.
