History
Kamisugi Station opened on 21 November 1965 as a Japan National Railways stop serving the town of Aikawa in Akita Prefecture. It is now served by the Akita Nairiku Line of the third-sector Akita Nairiku Jukan Railway, which took over the line on 1 November 1986 when JNR privatised this rural branch. The station is unattended and consists of a single side platform serving one bi-directional track, located 12.1 km from the line's northern terminus at Takanosu Station. The Ani River runs near the station, the principal feature of an otherwise sparsely settled stretch.
