History
Katsurase Station opened on 15 November 1935 as a Japan National Railways stop serving the village of Maeda, when the Aniai Line was extended from Yonaizawa to Aniai-Maeda. Freight and luggage handling were both withdrawn on 10 October 1970, after which the station became unstaffed. The line passed to the third-sector Akita Nairiku Jukan Railway on 1 November 1986, and the station now operates on what is marketed as the Smile Rail Akita Inland Line. It has a single side platform serving one bi-directional track, sited along the Ani River roughly 20 km from the line's northern terminus at Takanosu.
