History
Noda-Tamagawa Station opened on 20 July 1975 as an unstaffed Japan National Railways stop on the Kuji Line, serving Noda village in Iwate. The station transferred to the third-sector Sanriku Railway on 1 April 1984 when the Kuji Line was privatised. Following the 11 March 2011 Tohoku earthquake and tsunami, services through this section were suspended; service from Rikuchu-Noda to Tanohata, including this stop, resumed on 1 April 2012. On 23 March 2019 the merger of the Kita-Rias, Yamada and Minami-Rias segments turned the station into an intermediate stop on the through-running Rias Line.
