History
Yamaguchi Danchi Station opened on 16 October 2010 on what was then Sanriku Railway's Kita-Rias Line in Miyako, Iwate — the company's first new station in 25 years. Built to serve a postwar municipal housing estate, the station has only a single side platform with a roofed shelter and no station building proper, reached through the grounds of an adjacent three-storey council block. The 11 March 2011 earthquake and tsunami suspended the line on opening day's six-month anniversary; service between Miyako and Tarō resumed on 20 March 2011. Reorganisation on 23 March 2019 merged the Kita-Rias, former Yamada and Minami-Rias segments into a single Rias Line.

Notes
Although it sits on a national rail line, the platform is reached only by walking through the grounds of a three-storey council housing block — there is no separate station approach from the public road.
