History

Ishidoriya Station opened on 15 February 1893 on the line that became the Tōhoku Main Line, and was nationalised in 1906 when Nippon Railway became state property. Located in Hanamaki, Iwate Prefecture, 511.4 rail kilometres from Tokyo Station, it lost its freight business in 1971 and its parcel service in 1985. The station passed to JR East at the JNR privatisation on 1 April 1987 and was operated under contract from 2004. Its Midori no Madoguchi ticket office closed on 15 March 2024 and the station became fully unstaffed the next day; Suica service began on 27 May 2023.

Notes

The pedestrian under-track passage opened in April 2000 is a free public corridor that doubles as a through-route between the east and west sides of the station for non-passengers.
