History

Kita-Ōmagari Station opened on 21 November 1965 as a Japanese National Railways stop on the Ōmagari (Uboinai) Line, serving the city of Ōmagari in Akita Prefecture. The line became the Tazawako Line in 1966. The station is 72.0 rail kilometres from the line's terminus at Morioka and consists of a single side platform with a shelter, with no station building; it has always been unattended. JR East took over operations at the privatisation of JNR on 1 April 1987, and eki-net QR ticket service began on 1 October 2024.
