History
Maegō Station opened on 1 August 1922 as a station on the Yokojō Railway, which became the Japanese Government Railways' Yashima Line on 1 September 1937. The Yashima Line was extended past Maegō to Nishitakizawa Station in December of the same year. The Japanese Government Railways became the Japanese National Railways after the Second World War, and on 1 October 1985 the line was privatised, transferring to the third-sector Yuri Kōgen Railway as the Chōkai Sanroku Line. A new station building was completed in December 2003. The station has two opposed side platforms and is unattended.
