History
Yokokawame Station opened on 18 November 1921 on what is now the Kitakami Line, serving an agricultural area in present-day Kitakami, Iwate Prefecture. With the privatisation of Japanese National Railways on 1 April 1987 it passed into JR East operation. A new station building was completed in 1991. The site has remained a single side platform serving a bi-directional track with no on-duty staff.
