History
Tatekawame Station opened on 15 May 1963 on the Japanese National Railways' Kitakami Line in what is now Kitakami, Iwate Prefecture, 12.1 km from the line's eastern terminus at Kitakami. It was absorbed into the JR East network at the privatisation of the Japanese National Railways on 1 April 1987. The station has a single side platform serving a single bi-directional track for trains in both directions, and is unattended. National Route 107 passes through the surrounding area.
