History
Iwasawa Station opened on 18 November 1921 on what is now the Kitakami Line, in Kitakami, Iwate Prefecture. It was absorbed into the JR East network at the privatisation of the Japanese National Railways on 1 April 1987. A new station building was completed in 1991. The station has a single side platform serving a single bi-directional track, located 18.1 km from the line's eastern terminus at Kitakami, and is unattended. National Route 107 passes through the surrounding area.
