History

Fujine Station opened on 25 March 1921 on what is now the Kitakami Line, in present-day Kitakami, Iwate Prefecture. It was absorbed into the JR East network at the privatisation of the Japanese National Railways on 1 April 1987. The station has two opposed side platforms connected to the station building by a level crossing and is unattended. In fiscal 2017, it averaged 158 boarding passengers per day. Located 8.4 km from the line's eastern terminus at Kitakami, the station is reached from National Route 107 and lies close to the Akita Expressway.
