History
Kosano Station opened on 15 June 1945 on the Kamaishi Line in the city of Kamaishi, Iwate Prefecture. With the privatisation of Japanese National Railways on 1 April 1987, the station was absorbed into the East Japan Railway Company network. It has a single island platform. The Midori no Madoguchi ticket office closed on 30 November 2020 and the station has been unstaffed since 1 December 2020. The station sits 86.5 kilometres from the line's starting point at Hanamaki Station.
