History
Shimo-Yuzawa Station opened on 28 November 1956 as a station on the Japan National Railways Ōu Main Line in the city of Yuzawa, Akita Prefecture. It has been unattended since December 1979 and was absorbed into the East Japan Railway Company network upon the privatisation of the JNR on 1 April 1987. The station consists of two opposed side platforms connected to the station building by a footbridge, located 214.5 kilometres along the line from its terminus at Fukushima Station.
