History
Sagoshi Station opened on 1914-12-24 on the Uetsu Main Line in what is now Sakata, Yamagata Prefecture. With the privatisation of the Japanese National Railways on 1987-04-01 it passed to JR East. The station has two opposed side platforms linked by a footbridge and is unstaffed. In addition to Uetsu Main Line services, trains from the Rikuu West Line continue past that line's nominal terminus at Amarume to call at Sagoshi en route to Sakata.
