History
Shimizuhara Station opened on 1955-07-01 on the Tōhoku Main Line in what is now Ichinoseki, Iwate Prefecture. It is located 434.4 rail kilometres from the line's terminus at Tokyo Station. The station has two opposed side platforms connected to the station building by a footbridge and is unattended. With the privatisation of the Japanese National Railways on 1987-04-01, the station came under the control of JR East.
