History
Kiyokawa Station opened on 1914-06-04 on the Rikuu West Line in what is now Shōnai, Yamagata Prefecture. It is located 31.1 rail kilometres from the line's terminus at Shinjō Station. With the privatisation of the Japanese National Railways on 1987-04-01, the station came under the control of JR East. The station building was rebuilt in March 2000. The platform is now a single-sided island; the second track remains in place but its signalling equipment has been removed. The station is unattended.
