History
Takaya Station opened on 15 February 1952 on the Rikuu West Line, located in the town of Tozawa, Yamagata, 24.8 kilometres from the line's starting point at Shinjō. The unstaffed station has a single side platform serving one bidirectional track. It came under the control of East Japan Railway Company (JR East) on 1 April 1987 with the privatisation of Japanese National Railways, and continues to operate as a small wayside halt amid the surrounding hills.
