History

Wabuchi Station is an unattended single-platform stop on the Kesennuma Line in the city of Ishinomaki, Miyagi Prefecture, operated by JR East. The station opened on 24 October 1968, originally as a stop on the JNR Yanaizu Line. With the renaming of that line to the Kesennuma Line in 1977, Wabuchi was incorporated into the new line designation. The station was absorbed into the JR East network on 1 April 1987 with the privatization of Japanese National Railways. It sits 3.2 kilometers from the line's southern terminus at Maeyachi Station.
