History
Uzen-Kanezawa Station began operation on 25 December 1951 on the Aterazawa Line in the town of Nakayama, Yamagata Prefecture, operated by East Japan Railway Company since 1 April 1987 following the privatisation of Japanese National Railways. The unstaffed station is little more than a single side platform serving one bi-directional track, with no station building and no accessibility features, and is located 9.5 km from the line's starting point at Kita-Yamagata. In March 2024 the Sendai-area Suica zone was extended into Yamagata Prefecture and the station began accepting Suica IC cards, a notable upgrade for a stop that records very few passengers each day.

Notes
Yamagata Prefecture stopped reporting daily ridership for the station after fiscal 2004, when its figure stood at just 30 passengers a day.
