History
Dainohara Station opened on 15 July 1987 on the Sendai Subway Namboku Line in Aoba-ku, Sendai, Miyagi Prefecture. The underground station has a single island platform serving two tracks and is located 4.3 kilometres from the line's northern terminus at Izumi-Chūō. A crossover exists on the Asahigaoka side, and during the 2011 Tōhoku earthquake recovery the station became the temporary northern terminus from 14 March, with bus replacement covering the section to Izumi-Chūō until full line restoration on 29 April. Platform screen doors began operating on 23 January 2010, and IC cards under the local icsca brand were introduced on 6 December 2014.

Notes
During planning the station was given the working name "Kawarayama" after a nearby place name, before being renamed Dainohara at opening.
