History
Nakanosakae Station opened on 1 April 1981 as a Japanese National Railways station on the Senseki Line. It was transferred to JR East at the privatisation of JNR on 1 April 1987. Automatic ticket gates entered service on 23 January 2003 and Suica acceptance followed on 26 October 2003. A south-side rotary was completed in 2007 and departure bells began operating on 1 February 2008. From 1 October 2012 the station shifted from a directly-staffed Tagajō-managed stop to a JR East Tohoku Sogo Service contract station. Lift access was completed in March 2015, and the Midori no Madoguchi staffed ticket office closed on 15 April 2022.
