History
Tōhoku-Fukushi-dai-mae Station opened on 18 March 2007 between Kitayama and Kunimi on the Senzan Line. Tohoku Fukushi University had pursued a new stop since around 2000, citing the steep walk from the previous nearest station at Kitayama; at the same time JR East and the City of Sendai sought to relieve the rush-hour platform-capacity strain at Kunimi and Kitayama. The agreement was sealed in late 2005 and construction began in March 2006. The university funded approximately 1.1 billion yen for the station and the adjoining station-campus building. After opening, congestion at the two neighbouring stations eased. The Midori no Madoguchi staffed ticket office closed on 30 September 2021.
