History
Kita-Yobanchō Station, on the Sendai Subway Namboku Line in Aoba-ku, Sendai, opened on 1987-07-15 as part of the line's inaugural section. Built beneath the intersection of Kōtōdai-dōri (running north-south) and Kita-Yobanchō-dōri, the station occupies a site once served by the Futsukamachi stop of the Sendai City Tram. Service was suspended from 2011-03-11 to 2012-04-29 following damage from the Tōhoku earthquake. Platform-edge doors entered service on 2009-12-27, and the icsca IC card was introduced on 2014-12-06. The station has a single island platform on the second basement level with concourse one floor above and four entrances at the corners of the intersection.

Notes
The intersection above the station once carried the Sendai City Tram's Futsukamachi stop, so the station inherits a tram-era transit role at the same crossroads.
