Kawauchi Station is an underground station on the Sendai Subway Tōzai Line in Aoba-ku, Sendai, Miyagi Prefecture, operated by the Sendai City Transportation Bureau. The provisional station name was disclosed in October 2000, construction began in 2009, and the final name was officially announced on 24 December 2013. The station opened to passengers on 6 December 2015, the day the entire Tōzai Line entered service. It carries the station number T03 and bears the subsidiary name "Tōhoku University Kawauchi Campus-mae".
