History
Aoba-dori Ichibancho Station opened on 6 December 2015 with the rest of the Sendai Subway Tōzai Line, sitting beneath the intersection of Aobadōri and Ichibanchō in the heart of central Sendai. It carries the station number T06. The station occupies four basement levels, with the ticket gates on the equivalent of the fourth floor below ground and the island platform one level deeper at the fifth-floor equivalent; the first basement is given over to bicycle parking. North Exit 2 connects directly to the basement of the Fujisaki department store, while South Exit 1 links the station to The Sendai Tower, completed on 31 March 2014. Day-to-day operations are handled by contracted staff from the security company Alsok.
