History

Nishi-Ōtsuka Station opened on 15 November 1914 on the Nagai Light Railway in the town of Kawanishi in Yamagata Prefecture. It sits 10.3 rail kilometres from the line's Akayu terminus. The station passed to JR East at the privatisation of Japanese National Railways on 1 April 1987 and was transferred to the third-sector Yamagata Railway on 25 October 1988, becoming a station on the Flower Nagai Line. The unstaffed halt has one side platform serving a single bi-directional track.
