History
Uzen-Tsubaki Station opened on 10 August 1931 when Japanese National Railways extended the Yonesaka East Line from Imaizumi to Tenoko, serving the town of Iide in southwestern Yamagata Prefecture. Freight handling ceased on 15 June 1978, contract operation began in February 1983, and full destaffing followed on 14 March 1985 under a simplified-agency arrangement. The station passed to JR East at the privatisation of Japanese National Railways on 1 April 1987, and the current building was completed in December 1995. The site hosts the Iide Town Tourism Association office. Service along this stretch of the Yonesaka Line has been suspended since the August 2022 flood damage.
