History
Inukawa Station opened on 28 September 1926 on the Yonesaka Line, serving the town of Kawanishi in southern Yamagata Prefecture. The station was absorbed into the JR East network when Japanese National Railways was privatised on 1 April 1987, and the current single-platform station building was completed in February 2002. The station is unattended, with one side platform serving a single bidirectional track 19.4 rail kilometres from the Yonezawa terminus. Like the rest of the Yonesaka Line east of Imaizumi, services through Inukawa have been suspended since the August 2022 flood damage to the line.
