History
Sasaki Station opened on 23 December 1952 on the Hakushin Line, serving the city of Shibata in northern Niigata. The station was absorbed into the JR East network at the privatisation of Japanese National Railways on 1 April 1987. Its layout retains one side platform and one island platform connected to the station building by a footbridge, 21.0 kilometres from the Niigata terminus.
