History

Kitamarumori Station in Marumori, Miyagi opened on 1 July 1986 with the launch of the Abukuma Express, the third-sector successor that took over and extended the former Japanese National Railways Marumori Line. The station lies 39.2 rail kilometres from the line's official starting point at Fukushima. It consists of a single side platform serving one bi-directional track, with no station building; only a shelter sits on the platform itself, and the station is unstaffed. The platform sits below the surrounding ground level, so passengers descend a flight of steps from the entrance.
