History
Nishi-Yonezawa Station opened on 1926-09-28 on what is now the Yonesaka Line, a JR East branch that runs west from Yonezawa across the Iide range toward Sakamachi in Niigata Prefecture. The station sits 6.5 rail kilometres from the line's terminus at Yonezawa Station and serves a quiet section of the city of Yonezawa. It was absorbed into the JR East network at the breakup of Japanese National Railways on 1987-04-01. The station has a single side platform serving one bi-directional track and operates without staff.
