History
Hanamizuzaka Station opened on 13 April 1924 as Iizaka Station, the terminus of the Fukushima-Iizaka Electric Tramway and predecessor to today’s Iizaka Line. It was renamed Hanamizuzaka on 23 March 1927 when the line was extended further toward the Iizaka hot-spring district. The station, located in Iizaka-chō in the city of Fukushima, has a single side platform serving a bi-directional track. It is operated by Fukushima Kōtsū and sits 8.7 km from the Fukushima terminus. The station is unattended; a waiting room and security cameras were added during a 2007 refurbishment. A small staff office remains from its formerly attended days.

Notes
The current platform was the line’s northern terminus for three years; what is now Iizaka Onsen Station did not exist until the 1927 extension that triggered the renaming.
