History

Mukaisenoue Station opened on 1 July 1988 on the Abukuma Express Line in the city of Fukushima, Fukushima Prefecture, when the line was inaugurated as a successor to the former JNR Marumori Line. Located 8.6 km from the line’s starting point at Fukushima, the station has a single side platform serving a bi-directional track, no station building, and only a waiting room on the platform. It is unattended. Surrounded by orchards in the city’s Senoue area, the station also draws traffic from neighbouring Date city. In fiscal 2016 it averaged just 27 boarding passengers per day. The town’s slogan, “village of peaches”, reflects the surrounding fruit-growing land.
