History
Sakuramizu Station opened on 20 August 1975 on the Fukushima Kōtsū Iizaka Line in the city of Fukushima, Fukushima Prefecture. The station sits 5.1 km from the line’s starting point at Fukushima and serves as the line’s operational headquarters and rail yard, with storage and maintenance facilities for the 7000-series fleet. It is the only station on the line whose island platform is connected to the station building by an underground walkway. The ground-floor ticket window sells commuter passes, ticket books and through tickets to the Abukuma Express Line, and a ticket vending machine is also installed. The Iizaka Line’s offices occupy the upper floor of the station building.
