History
Maki Station, on JR East's Echigo Line, lies in Nishikan Ward, Niigata, 57.8 kilometres from the line's Kashiwazaki terminus. It has two opposed side platforms linked by a footbridge, and is the principal station for western Niigata's former Maki town. The ticket office is the only Midori no Madoguchi on this stretch of the Echigo Line, and Suica is accepted. In fiscal 2017, the station handled an average of 2,394 boarding passengers per day. The station is the closest rail access for the Nishikan Ward Office and for both Maki General and Maki High Schools.

Notes
The station's Midori no Madoguchi makes Maki the only attended ticket office on its Echigo Line section, and the daily boarding figure of 2,394 in fiscal 2017 was the highest in this batch of small-town Niigata stations.
