History

Kita-Gosen Station, on the Ban'etsu West Line, opened on 20 February 1952 as a Japanese National Railways station, and is 167.5 kilometres from the line's Kōriyama end. A drinking fountain was donated by the local Rotary Club in July 1982 and toilets were added that November. The current station building was completed in August 1989, alongside a switch to simple-commission staffing, and the underpass beneath the line opened that December. The station became part of JR East on 1 April 1987 at the privatisation of JNR. From 15 March 2008 Suica fare cards have been accepted, and on 1 April 2020 the Gosen-city simple-commission arrangement was ended, leaving the station fully unattended throughout the day.

Notes

The station was rebuilt in 1994 as a combined facility with the Gosen city tourist information centre, which still shares the building today.
